The Arizona Board of Cosmetology is mandated to protect the public and issue licenses to individuals, salons and schools. The Board enforces regulation by inspections and investigations of consumer complaints, and conducts hearings and imposes enforcement action when appropriate.
The day to day operations of the Board are overseen by an Executive Director appointed by the Board, agency staff members and an Assistant Attorney General assigned to the Board. Office operations include Administration, Licensing and Examinations and Enforcement. The Board is a regulatory agency for the professions of Cosmetology and Nail Technology.
Members of the Board are appointed by the Governor for three year terms. A.R.S. § 32-502 establishes the composition of the Board and length of terms.

To ensure the public health, welfare, and safety through education and enforcement of the cosmetology laws and rules by the regulation of salons, schools, and individuals who practice cosmetology.
